BuckLab Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 14, 2026

BuckLab is a trail-camera buck-evaluation app published by WH LABS LLC. This policy explains, in plain English, what the app collects, why, who it's shared with, and the control you have over it. If anything here is unclear, email us at caleb@whlabs.io and we'll answer.

The short version: you send us trail-cam photos so our AI can give you an age and antler-score estimate. We keep those photos and results tied to your account so you can build a history for each buck. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and you can delete everything from inside the app whenever you want.

Who we are

BuckLab is operated by WH LABS LLC ("we," "us"), 181 W Valley Ave, Ste 245, Birmingham, AL 35209, United States. For any privacy question or request, contact caleb@whlabs.io.

What we collect and why

Trail-cam photos you upload. When you evaluate a buck, you pick up to five photos and we upload them to our servers so the AI can analyze them. Each photo is stored privately, filed under your own account, and is only accessible to you (and to our systems that generate your result). Photos stay attached to the buck and analysis you created them for so you can look back at a buck's history across the season.

Photo metadata. Photo files often carry embedded metadata (EXIF), such as the date and time the picture was taken and sometimes GPS coordinates. We store your photo file as you upload it, which means any metadata embedded in the file is stored with it. The app does not currently read, extract, or use embedded GPS data. If you'd rather not upload location data at all, strip the metadata from a photo before uploading it.

Your account. You can start using BuckLab without signing up — your first session runs as an anonymous guest account so you can try an evaluation before committing. When you create a full account, we store the identifier tied to how you signed in (Sign in with Apple, or an email address for a one-time-code login) so your bucks, photos, and credits are saved and can sync. Converting a guest account into a full account keeps the data you already created.

Analysis results and your buck records. The age class, antler-score range, confidence level, written explanation, the names you give your bucks, and any details you add (like a confirmed harvest age or score) are stored under your account.

Credit balance and purchase records. We keep track of how many evaluation credits you have and a record of purchases so credits can be granted correctly and restored. Payments themselves are handled by Apple — see "Sharing and third parties" below.

Shared opinion links and the names voters enter. If you create a link to get opinions on a buck, anyone you send it to can enter a name (whatever they choose to type) and their age and score guess. We store those names and guesses so the results can be shown back to you and to other voters. We ask voters only for a name of their choosing plus their guesses — nothing else. Your email address and account ID are never shown on a shared page.

We do not ask for or collect your precise device location through the operating system, your contacts, your health data, or similar sensitive categories. The only location information involved is whatever may already be embedded in the trail-cam photos you choose to upload.

How your information is used

We use what we collect to run the core features: analyze your photos into an age and score estimate, save your bucks and their history, manage your credit balance, and power the optional "get opinions" sharing. We also use aggregate, non-identifying information to keep the service working. We may use uploaded photos and any harvest details you confirm (like a taped score or a known age) to test and improve the accuracy of BuckLab's estimates. That work is internal to BuckLab — your photos and records are never sold or handed to advertisers.

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. BuckLab has no ads.

To run the app, we use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our service.

Your controls and choices

Delete everything, from inside the app. In Account, "Delete account" permanently deletes your account, your credits, and all of your saved analyses and photos. This cannot be undone. You don't have to email us to do it — though you can reach us at caleb@whlabs.io if you'd like help.

Guest data. If you use BuckLab as a guest and never create a full account, that guest data is not linked to a name or email. We may periodically remove long-inactive guest accounts and their data.

Opinion links. A shared link exposes only the buck's photos, the age/score result, and voter-chosen names and guesses. It never exposes your email or account ID. You control whether to create or share a link at all.

Children

BuckLab is a hunting tool intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data retention

We keep your photos, bucks, and results for as long as your account exists so your history stays intact, and we delete them when you delete your account. Residual copies may persist in our provider's encrypted backups for a limited period (up to about 30 days) before being purged.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
